Saturday School

Empowering young minds through learning, language, and community.

The Stag Lane Saturday School, run by Afghan Association Paiwand, provides high-quality supplementary education for children aged 5–11. Operating from Stag Lane Primary School, it supports pupils in English and Maths while promoting bilingualism through Dari and Pashto language classes and cultural studies.

It’s a safe, welcoming environment where learning feels joyful, and every child feels seen, supported, and proud of who they are.

Empowering young learners every week

How We Help Children Learn and Grow

At Stag Lane Saturday School, learning is more than lessons, it’s about helping every child grow in skill, confidence, and curiosity.

Each Saturday, qualified UK teachers and community educators work side by side to deliver an engaging, inclusive programme aligned with the National Curriculum.

  • Morning sessions (9:45am – 12:15pm):
English and Maths for Key Stages 1 and 2, helping children strengthen core skills and gain confidence in school subjects.

  • Afternoon sessions (12:30pm – 3:00pm):
Dari and Pashto language classes, along with Cultural Studies, connecting children to their roots while enhancing bilingual ability.

We’re proud that Stag Lane Saturday School achieved the Quality Mark Award in 2025, recognising the dedication of our teachers, the enthusiasm of our students, and the strong partnerships we’ve built with families.

Learning, language, and creativity in action

Inside the Classroom

Each Saturday, our classrooms buzz with energy and imagination. From core subjects to creative expression, every session is designed to help children learn with joy and confidence.

Math and English

English & Maths

Our morning sessions strengthen reading, writing, and numeracy — the foundation of every child’s education. Through games, group work, and hands-on learning, children build real confidence and develop problem-solving skills that support them in school and beyond.

Dari and Pashto

Dari & Pashto

Language is at the heart of identity. In our afternoon classes, children learn to read, write, and speak Dari and Pashto, connecting them to family, culture, and heritage. These sessions are lively, interactive, and rooted in pride for who they are and where they come from.

Drama and Music

Drama & Music

Creativity helps children find their voice. Our drama and music sessions encourage self-expression, teamwork, and imagination. Whether performing a short play, singing together, or exploring rhythm, students gain confidence, communication skills, and a sense of belonging.

Story Telling

Cultural Studies

Through art, storytelling, and celebration, our Cultural Studies lessons introduce students to diverse traditions and shared values. It’s where children discover not only new ideas but also the beauty of understanding others.

Every Saturday, the classrooms at Stag Lane come alive with energy, laughter, and learning.
